Volume 1, Number 4
Happy August everyone! I’ve got some good news -- my wife just had
our second child on July 19th. Breck Lynnette was just over 7 pounds, and she is
doing wonderful!
It has been very hot, and so has Land O'Lakes Purina feeds in
the show ring!! The list of Champions continues to grow, so make sure to
concentrate on that business. Our track record speaks for itself, and should
help push sales even higher!
The first Expo in Reno is over, but there are a
couple left, including Arlington, TX in August, and Minneapolis and Savannah, GA
in September. I encourage you to attend if you can.
Prior to harvest is a
excellent time to hold a event. Pet events and open houses can really drive new
customers to your location. If there is anyway I can help, don’t hesitate to
holler!
Good luck selling, and thank you for your business.

Impact Starter
You will be hearing more Purina dealers and their customers reporting successful starting cattle results with Purina’s Impact Starter Technology. This summer’s hot, dry conditions in much of or market have forced cattle producers to make significant changes in their weaning programs, feed and grass management strategies and in their choice of Purina feed products to use. Because of the IM Technology built into Impact Starter, you will quickly see how this product will respond to a variety of feeding situations.
Here’s how it works. Impact Starter contains Purina’s patented intake modifiers to help control consumption on calves. This allows the formula to be energy dense to enhance calf performance and feed efficiency yet be safe enough to be full fed.
Your customers and prospects (and their cattle) will also like the look and feel of Impact Starter. It is a coarse textured ration that is palatable to calves even if they have had limited access to dry feed before weaning. It holds up in the bunk better than pelleted feeds and resists moisture as well.
Your cattle producer contacts rely on Purina dealers to bring them nutritional solutions, especially in times when they have new challenges or (in the case of this year) when Mother Nature throws us a curve. Impact Starter will be your product of choice for many of these new situations this fall.
If you haven’t handled Impact Starter in the past please consult with your Purina sales representative or visit the Cattle Nutrition link on the Purina Mills website. (Click here)
Land O'Lakes Purina Feeds is sponsoring a Cattle Fitting
Competition at the 2006 Ak-Sar-Ben Livestock Exposition in Omaha. The event is
open to all 4-H members. We are asking each dealer to contact their local
Extension Agent in an effort to make sure a team from every county is
represented at this event. Entry deadline is August 18th. (Click

Texas Horse Mortality Incident Traced to Pesticide
An investigation by the Texas A & M College of Veterinary
Medicine reported the tragic loss of 28 horses in July in Brazos County, Texas
was apparently caused by phosphine poisoning resulting from an on-farm pesticide
application. The findings reconfirm Texas A & M's initial report that the
Strategy bulk feed delivered to the farm was not the source of the issue.

5V05 Wild Herbivore (CUBE size): When 5ZF1 Wild Herbivore

The Wild Herbivore product is a product that contains no grain products,
contains a buffer and flaxseed (for Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids). The starch
